Snow Alert – 1.11.09
A storm is a-brew in the Northeast. There will be significant amounts of snowfall in the Fort Lee area starting Saturday morning and continuing until Sunday morning. The forecast (as of 10am, Saturday morning) calls for 6-8 inches of snowfall and sleet and ice, making “TRAVEL VERY HAZARDOUS OR IMPOSSIBLE.”
There will be a worship service tomorrow morning at 11am, however, please do not endanger yourself or your family by trying to travel in hazardous conditions. If you feel you cannot make it, please stay home.
If you live nearby and would like to help shovel the snow, we will be meeting at church at 8am on Sunday morning to plow, shovel and salt the church parking lot, sidewalk and stairs.

A WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 11 AM THIS MORNING TO 8 AM EST SUNDAY.
SNOW IS EXPECTED TO DEVELOP LATER THIS MORNING… BEFORE SPREADING FROM WEST TO EAST THROUGHOUT THE DAY. SNOW WILL THEN CONTINUE TO FALL INTO TONIGHT… THEN MIX WITH SLEET AND FREEZING RAIN. THIS WINTRY MIX ENDS SUNDAY MORNING.
TOTAL SNOW ACCUMULATIONS FROM THIS SYSTEM WILL RANGE FROM 4 TO 8 INCHES. THE LOWEST AMOUNTS WILL BE NEAR THE LONG ISLAND SOUND AND AREAS THAT BORDER NEW YORK CITY… MAINLY SOUTHERN FAIRFIELD… SOUTHERN WESTCHESTER… PORTIONS OF EASTERN BERGEN… WHERE 4 TO 7 INCHES ARE EXPECTED. INTERIOR SECTIONS WILL OBSERVE THE HIGHER AMOUNTS OF 6 TO 8 INCHES.
SOME ICING IS EXPECTED AS WELL LATE TONIGHT INTO EARLY SUNDAY MORNING WHERE FREEZING RAIN IS OBSERVED.
A WINTER STORM WARNING MEANS SIGNIFICANT AMOUNTS OF SNOW… SLEET… AND ICE ARE EXPECTED OR OCCURRING. STRONG WINDS ARE ALSO POSSIBLE. THIS WILL MAKE TRAVEL VERY HAZARDOUS OR IMPOSSIBLE.
